ABOUT LINK DIGITAL

Founded in Australia in 2001, Link Digital is a trusted expert in CKAN and open data portals.

We specialise in using open source technologies to design, build, and secure robust data hubs and portals for governments, organisations and communities around the world.

We are a fully remote team with members based in Australia, Germany, the Philippines, Poland, Ukraine and Vietnam. You’ll be part of a dynamic, virtual team and while your work will be based in Australia, your physical location is entirely flexible.

ROLE OVERVIEW

At Link Digital, our Product Owners play a key role in delivering high-quality digital solutions through agile processes. You’ll lead client engagements, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery to ensure projects meet scope, quality, and timeline expectations.

In this role, you’ll build strong client relationships, define requirements, shape product roadmaps, and collaborate closely with our development team to bring ideas to life. Acting as the client’s advocate, you’ll translate needs into actionable plans that drive meaningful results.

Success requires analytical thinking, clear communication across technical and non-technical teams, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. If you thrive on variety, enjoy leading diverse projects, and love working with talented global teams to turn vision into impact, this role is for you.

CORE JOB DUTIES

  • Manage client relationships
  • Understand the client, their business, pressures, and direction
  • Create realistic product roadmaps and delivery plans that work for the client and Link
  • Establish collaborative, agile working arrangements that work for the client and Link
  • Manage the product life cycle and team collaboration using agile tools, particularly Confluence and Jira
  • Provide the Development Team with information and decisions as required to support story development, seeking clarification from the client as required
  • Facilitate prioritisation of the backlog
  • Triage bugs and issues and delegation as appropriate
  • Proactively look for opportunities to quote additional work, advising Sales of such opportunities
  • Provide advice and time estimates for opportunities being quoted
  • Manage UAT and Production deployments
  • Evaluate stories completed by the Dev Team and conduct quality assurance testing
  • Stay current on existing and emerging products and technologies in the market
  • To some extent or project, undertake project management, business analysis, and solution architecture functions as part of the Product Owner role such as managing delivery scope, timelines, and resources; translating business requirements into technical specifications; and guiding solution design to ensure alignment with client goals and organisational standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three or more years of experience in product development architecture
  • Strong technical background with knowledge of software development and web technologies
  • In-depth knowledge of agile methodologies for project management
  • Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product life cycle
  • Proficient using Confluence and Jira as the key tools for product management
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting needs of stakeholders
  • In-depth knowledge of Scrum and Agile Software Development Methodology

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

To work as a Product Owner, you would typically require at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other related fields. Some background or training in product management will also be useful. Having certifications will equally be a plus. Relevant courses include the Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), a course that provides two levels of certification, proving that you have an understanding of the Scrum Framework. Another one is the Certified SAFe Product Owner, a two-day training that teaches the basic principles of Scrum.
