Description: About The Institute Located on Gadigal and Bidjigal land (Randwick NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. For the past 20 years, we have been at the forefront of mental health research. Our work is used to drive evidence informed change across the rapidly expanding mental health sector and sets the foundations for a brighter and healthier future for all. We house the only Lived Experience centre for First Nations peoples in the world. The centre elevates the voices of First Nations peoples and shares their stories to co-design, inform, and deliver culturally responsive mental health and suicide prevention initiatives. Benefits

Skills and Experiences: The Role The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the transition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre from a project within the Black Dog Institute into an autonomous, independent legal entity. Working collaboratively with the Director of First Nations Strategy and Partnerships and the Head of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre, this role involves developing and executing a comprehensive change management strategy, ensuring a smooth and successful transformation in line with proposed timeframes. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate organisational, structural, and procedural changes while maintaining alignment with strategic vision of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre. Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Transition Planning and Implementation

  • Develop and implement a change management strategy that supports the transition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre to an independent legal entity
  • Create key documentation and processes relating to the transition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre to an independent legal entity.
  • Develop critical change management milestones and monitor the progress of change management activities to ensure they are on track and align with the established milestones.
  • Work with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre’s National Advisory Group to lead and drive critical change management processes and decisions.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Manage internal and external stakeholder needs and expectations regarding the transition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and other key internal stakeholders on the status of the transition and any emerging issues.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, to define and communicate the vision and objectives of the transitioned legal entity.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and maintain effective communication channels to ensure all parties are informed and involved throughout the transition.
  • Development and implementation of change management communications in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders

Organisational Design and Development

  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during the transition process
  • Plan the organisational structure, including defining roles, responsibilities, and reporting lines for the new entity.
  • Coordinate governance processes required for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre to become its own independent legal entity.
  • Conduct skill mapping
  • Oversee the establishment and management of the auspicing arrangement between Black Dog Institute and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre
  • Liaise with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lived Experience Centre team in the planning and implementation of proposed change management activities

Risk Management

  • Develop a risk management plan to identify and manage potential risks and resistance to change, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify new risks and evaluate effectiveness of mitigation strategies.

  • Experience in organisational change management and development, specifically in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context, preferably in transitioning projects to independent organisations or legal entities
  • Experience in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Governance across a variety of organisational settings (e.g., Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and Social and Emotional Wellbeing Services)
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, organisational wide initiatives, and time management skills with the ability to multitask competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to organisational transitions and specific to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • High level of computer literacy with proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
