About the Role: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide data-driven solutions. 
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity by conducting regular audits and data quality checks. 
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains through data analysis. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data analysis and visualisation techniques. 
  • ​​D​ata infrastructure build: Designing and implementing robust, scalable data systems that meet the growing needs of the organisation.
  • Data security advisory: Offering strategic guidance to ensure our data environment is secure, compliant, and resilient against threats. 
  • I connection / pipeline development / ETL development: Building and optimising data pipelines and API connections, along with refining ETL processes to ensure smooth and efficient data flow across platforms. 
  • Data warehouse efficiency optimisation: Continuously monitoring and improving the performance and cost-effectiveness of our data warehouse to ensure optimal operation. 
  • Incorporate machine learning models into our infrastructure, ensuring they are deployed effectively to drive business insights. 
  • Data modelling: Designing data models that accurately represent complex business processes and support comprehensive data analysis. 
  • Data architecture: Developing a forward-thinking data architecture that is flexible, scalable, and aligned with our overall business strategy, enabling the organisation to leverage data as a strategic asset.

Day in the Life

  • Blend of technical problem-solving and cross-team collaboration. You’ll spend time gathering, cleaning, and transforming data to build impactful visualisations using tools like Tableau and Power BI. You’ll also use SQL and Python to dive deep into the data, uncovering actionable insights. Working with cloud technologies like Snowflake, you’ll ensure the systems are optimised for performance and scalability.

About You

  • Education: A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or another relevant field.
  • Experience: 3+ years in data engineering, or a related field (preferably within financial services or healthcare).
  • Work Eligibility: Must have full working rights in Australia. 
  • _Bonus Points: E_xperience in top-tier firms like the Big 4 or major banks is a plus. 

Technical Expertise:

  • Programming: Strong command of Python and SQL for data manipulation, pipeline creation, and ETL workflows. 
  • Database Management: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and query languages such as T-SQL and PL/SQL.
  • _Big Data: K_nowledge of tools like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka for large-scale data processing.
  • _Cloud Services: F_amiliar with cloud data services, particularly within AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • _ML & Orchestration: P_ractical experience with tools like Airflow, DBT, and other data transformation platforms.
  • Data Models: Deep understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling.

  • Collaboration: Excellent communicator with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
  • Adaptability: Fast learner who thrives in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing business priorities and tools.
